Prenatal exposure to BPA (bisphenol A) is being strongly linked with diminished lung function in children. BPA is found primarily in plastics. Pregnant or not, female or male, PLEASE avoid plastics as much as possible. Use glass or stainless steel drinking bottles (and note that GLASS is my recommendation since stainless steel may be contaminated with other metals). Purchase meats and cheeses from the deli to minimize exposure to plastic wrapping. Never microwave food in plastic containers. And avoid touching thermal receipts–another common source of BPA exposure. Read more about the link with lung compromise in children here. And more about BPA here.
