Carbohydrates are Associated with Dementia

A recent report from the Mayo Clinic reveals that those consuming a diet primarily of carbohydrates increase their risk of developing dementia.  Furthermore, those who consume poultry and fish reduce their risk, and those with a diet including healthy fats reduce their risk even further. There was an old thinking that the brain survived on carbs, but this has been proven FALSE–the brain survives on FATS and utilizes sugar only if it must (i.e., if it is starving). The process of utilizing sugars, though, is inflammatory and causes adverse brain effects.

Bottom line:  minimize carbohydrates (including not only sugar but grains and potatoes) and include healthy fats (such as organic coconut oil, “grass-fed” butter, olive oil, nuts, seeds).  To your health!!
