While a sedentary person may contract a cold 2 – 3 times per year, those who include moderate exercise reduce their incidences of becoming ill. This study also reports, though, that excessive exercise–such as marathon runners–may reduce immune function. So, include moderate exercise but don’t overdo it! Read more here.

Preventative Medicine–Exercise and Everything We Eat
Here is yet another article summarizing the impacts of our diet and lifestyle choices. What we eat DOES make a difference–eat a diet which contains mostly VEGETABLES and INCLUDES healthy naturally-raised meats/poultry/fish, fruit, seeds, and nuts. Note–grains are not on my list of recommended foods–use them as treats only.
Encourage your children to get outdoors.
Recent research indicates that low Vitamin D is associated with childhood obesity. Encourage your children to play outdoors to receive natural source of Vitamin D–they will tend to get more exercise, too. Cod liver oil is another great source of Vit. D.

While this research seems to report the obvious, what I find interesting are the rates of risk reported (click here for article). For example, they found that those who eat vegetables only three to six times weekly had over 25% lower risk of heart failure! Imagine
