Love those sweet strawberries that are starting to hit the grocery stores? Please limit consumption to organic only–strawberries are among the “dirtiest” produce on EWG’s Dirty Dozen list. Non-organic versions contain carbendazim (a hormone disruptor), bifenthrin (a possible carcinogen), and up to 17 other pesticides. Better yet, find a spot in your home garden–they make a great ground cover on top of being a delicious treat. If you don’t have a yard, try a strawberry pot or three! (I added a link here, but haven’t used this brand–just be sure to avoid plastic versions) 🙂
