Fast Food is Linked to Childhood Asthma

OK–we all have at least heard that fast food is bad for our health (and, I’m on record as stating:  Fast food IS bad for your health.). This research adds another notch in the “bad for you” category: it is now linked to asthma in children. PLEASE, do NOT think that you are giving them a treat by taking your children for fast food. You are increasing their risk of obesity, asthma, heart disease, allergies, and more.

If you need fast meals, reinstate your slow-cooker.  A great cookbook is “Make It Fast, Cook It Slow” by Stephanie O’Dea–and she has a second one, too, “More Make It Fast, Cook It Slow”. Make double (or triple) batches and freeze portions for “frozen dinners” later.

For rewards, instead of treating with food (a dangerous model in many ways), treat them to time with you:  playing ball in backyard, going to library, skating, bowling, reading together, etc.

To your health and that of your family!!
