This study illustrates that including fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet helps reduce weight long-term. They found that compliance with the diet changes was better, too, than diets that require elimination of foods (e.g., fried foods). I do recommend a diet which is primarily comprised of vegetables then fruit. Healthy meats, poultry, fish, nuts, seeds, and dairy (if tolerated) should take up only about 25% of your plate.
