For the first time ever, there may be a blood test that can evaluate the severity of a brain injury. Concussion is notoriously difficult to diagnose–with the current technology, many people (including children!) sustain head and neck injuries that have caused undetected brain injuries. In addition, our current technology involves brain imaging which requires radiation exposure as well as high cost. I am excited that a simple blood test may be on the horizon! Read more here.
