Calcium Supplementation and Heart Disease

You likely have already heard that there is concern regarding calcium supplementation. The goal of supplementation was to support bone health, but evidence suggests that it increases plaque formation in the arteries (click here). The bottom line is to consult your physician as to whether or not you should be supplementing calcium–and including magnesium is usually indicated if you do. Most importantly, keep lots of calcium-rich foods in your diet including yogurt, leafy greens, almonds, and Brazil nuts–and keep exercising, too!!!
