Breastfeeding During Food Introduction

I am excited about this research! They found that there were fewer food allergies in infants who continued to breastfeed during food introduction. And, yes, I recommend waiting to introduce foods–the article suggests “at least 17 weeks” but my general recommendation is to wait until the infant can sit up unassisted, teeth have started to erupt, and/or the infant is actually interested in food. I also recommend against starting with grains–veggies are a better choice. Please schedule an appointment to determine the best approach for your baby! And keep breastfeeding 🙂
