Insomnia? Check Your Breathing . . .

Research is showing a link between waking during the night and having a “breathing event”, and not only sleep apnea. It may be due to allergies, congestion, etc. A simple nasal rinse (Neti pot with sterile saline solution) before bed may be all it takes. If you suspect breathing difficulties, schedule an office visit–you may benefit from a sleep study. I’ve also had patients start sleeping through the night when they have a high quality protein/fat snack before bed. More good ideas are included here.
