Is There a Link Between Gluten-Sensitivity and GMO’s?

November 26th, 2013

I’m attaching a video which talks about the potential association between gluten sensitivity and GMO consumption. Here is a link to an article as well. It may sound silly at first blush, but there is now a gluten-free dating site. For those that have gluten intolerance or Celiac disease, this may be very helpful. Celiac Lesions Linked with Lymphoma

August 8th, 2013

Research is revealing that unhealed intestinal lesions from Celiac disease may increase the risk of lymphoma. From an allopathic viewpoint (MD, DO), the only means of healing the GI tract is via a gluten-free diet. Naturopathic physicians know, however, that appropriate use of nutraceuticals can be very beneficial. Certainly, a 100% gluten-free diet is an absolute must. But using nutrients such as aloe, slippery elm powder, L-glutamine and others may increase the healing process. Please call for your appointment if you’ve been diagnosed with Celiac.

“Gluten-Free” Limits are Finally Set

August 5th, 2013

We no longer will need to guess if a product is labelled correctly when it says “gluten-free”. The FDA has finally agreed to limiting “gluten-free” labeling to < 20 ppm. While this is good news, please know that many people react to much lower levels of gluten in their diet. Whole food diets with minimal packaged foods remains my recommendation. Click here.

Wondering About the Rash of Wheat Sensitivity?

February 13th, 2013

Here is an article that confirms increased reaction to wheat that has been deamidated. Deamidation of wheat is done to create a more soluble product for food production (i.e., as an additive–NOT a whole food).
