Higher Vitamin D serum Levels Associated with Lower Risk of Colon Cancer

June 28th, 2018

The title of this post really says it all: Higher serum levels of vitamin D = lower risk of colon cancer. This article suggests a range of 75 – 100 nmol/L. My typical recommendation is 60 – 80, however, 80 – 90 may be a preferred range. But don’t think that you can just start pounding Vitamin D–too much vitamin D may lead to other problems with heart and bone health. And some people “over-convert” to another form of Vitamin D that can contribute to bone loss. Have you Vitamin D levels monitored–even if your insurance won’t cover this test. And get some daily sunshine 🙂
