Pain Management

In addition to the use of botanical, nutritional and homeopathic techniques, additional treatments are offered to facilitate healing and pain management:

The Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique is a specific series of muscle and connective tissue movements used to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal problems and injuries, as well as many other conditions such as asthma, hay fever, gastrointestinal complaints, PMS, etc. These gentle yet powerful movements send a neurological impulse to the muscles and brain which help realign and restore balance to the muscles, joints, and nerves. Many of the movements are located along acupuncture meridians or on specific acupuncture points which are known to stimulate and balance the body’s energy.

Lori D. Brown, ND, MA, completed extensive training to achieve her Bowen Practitioner status. She has successfully treated conditions including fibromyalgia, asthma, grief, abdominal pain, motor vehicle injuries, sprains and strains, PMS, herniated discs and other causes of back pain, and more. Please call if you have any questions regarding this technique or to schedule an appointment.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent©

Microcurrent is a physiotherapy technique in use since the 1980’s and utilizes current in millionths of an ampere. [By comparison, a TENS unit produces current in milliamps which is 1,000 times greater than microamps.] With the Frequency Specific Microcurrent© technique, we are using specific frequencies which address specific conditions and tissues. It is important to clearly state that, short of biopsy, there is no way to prove that the frequencies are doing what we think they are doing. However, patients respond favorably to these treatments. Dr. Brown has successful utilized Frequency Specific Microcurrent© for a wide variety of health complaints including chronic pain syndromes and fibromyalgia, motor vehicle and other musculoskeletal injuries, chronic fatigue syndrome, tendonitis, bursitis, etc. In addition, she has successfully utilized FSM as adjunctive care for a wide variety of non-musculoskeletal (and non-FDA-approved) concerns such as gall bladder complaints, adrenal fatigue, liver and detoxification support, ringworm, and chronic sinus infections.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound provides deep heating effects to the body. Penetration can be limited to approximately 1 – 2 cm or increased to approximately 5 cm, depending upon the patient’s needs. Therapeutic ultrasound can provide pain relief, reduction of muscle spasms, and increased blood flow. It has been used successfully to treat bursitis, tendonitis, arthritis, back pain, sciatica, post-operative pain, and neuralgias. Dr. Brown combines the use of botanical medicine with ultrasound to maximize benefits of the treatment.
