So, you might have noticed that your appointments with a naturopathic physician (ND) are much longer than those with many allopathic providers (MD, DO, PA, NP). Our goal is to treat the whole person by teasing out the underlying cause of the health complaint. This article does a nice job explaining!  To your health!!

Hormone Imbalance??

October 6th, 2014

While we tend to think of menopause as the time for hormone imbalance (and it IS as the ovaries retire), there are other hormone imbalances that can adversely impact our overall health and mood. Excessive fatigue may be due to thyroid or adrenal imbalances. Excessive hair growth or loss may be a testosterone problem. Sleep problems may be due to blood sugar crashes and adrenal stress. And please note that blood testing is not always the best for determining these imbalances. Please call for an appointment to discuss options for you and a treatment plan customized for you!!

Americans–The Sickest with the Most Prescription Drug Use

April 11th, 2014

Hmmm . . . wouldn’t you think that the country with the most medication available would be the healthiest?? Not so.

“… we are dead last in health outcomes among 17 developed nations surveyed by the National Research Council and the Institute of Medicine. In 2013, they reported a “strikingly consistent and pervasive” pattern of worse health for all Americans, young and old, compared to the health of citizens from economically comparable nations.”–a quote from Dr. Andrew Weil.

And yet, nearly 70% of Americans are taking at least one pharmaceutical. Please read the attached article (from which I pulled the above quote).

Bottom line: develop a healthy diet, exercise daily, nourish your spirit, rest, sleep. See your naturopathic physician for options to pharmaceuticals to nudge the body toward healing. And reserve medications as “last resort”. If you are currently on medications, do NOT stop them without consulting with your health care provider. Schedule an appointment to discuss options for weaning. to your health!!
